While ordering numbers we arrange them in an order that is either Ascending or
Descending
Ascending order (Smallest to greatest)

Example 1. Arrange the numbers in ascending order:

8434, 9750, 465, 1265
Solution.

Step 1. Check the number of digits in each number:

8434 → 4 digits 9750 → 4 digits 465 → 3 digits 1265 → 4 digits

Since 465 has the fewest digits, it is the smallest number.

Step 2. Compare the thousands place for the remaining numbers:
'8'434 '9'750 '1'265

From 1, 8 and 9:

1 is the smallest, 8 is greater than 1 and 9 is the greatest.
So, the order becomes: 1265, 8434, 9750

Final ascending order for the given numbers: 465, 1265, 8434, 9750

Note: If the thousands digit is the same, compare the hundreds place:
Example: 8434, 8750, 8265

From 2, 4 and 7:

2 is the smallest, 4 is greater than 2 and 7 is the greatest.
So, the ascending order is: 8265, 8434, 8750
